Significant Economic Growth Medium
Indonesia is now entering a new economic conditions of middle-class economic development marked the last seven years. Unfortunately, until now the economy is still too spoiled by enjoying a variety of subsidies from the government.
Though the emergence of middle class feared would open the threat of low-middle-class trap (low middle class country-trap) that always accompanies a nation's economic growth to economic conditions worse.
"If it continues to rely on subsidies and government transfers, economic growth will not increase. People will not be independent and there-there stagnant," said analyst Mohamad Ikhsan Economic Revival in the discussion on the Middle Class Indonesia, Economic, Social and Political Implications in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
According Ikhsan, amid fears the emergence of middle-class economy based on similar historical experiences of Argentina and Cuba experienced. At the beginning of the 20th century, the two countries in Latin America is experiencing significant economic growth medium.
Unfortunately, in the span of a century, the economies of both countries never improve even more and bring the middle class increasingly dependent on government assistance. "While Argentina is still struggling as the country's lower middle class, America has become a developed country," said Ikhsan.
Judging from history, Ikhsan hope the government make policies to prevent tergelincirnya Indonesia in low-income middle-class trap. Especially at this time, Indonesia was considered to be at a crossroads: whether to move into developed countries, or vice versa.
Policies to prevent the emergence of the trap, connect Ikhsan, require support in the form of government goes according to law, macroeconomic stability, improving public services and health, and job creation.
With the growth opportunities that middle-class hopes Ikhsan Indonesia have low incomes will not stagnate in that position. Worse yet, the middle class that actually fell into the economy poor ratings.
Here we get the conclusion that somehow we are in a situation like this must look back, because not only we who will consume subsidized goods but also the poor where they need it than need was also used in the form of business (work) them.
